No. 5 Maddox St.
No. 5 Maddox Street is a discreet Mayfair hideaway that combines the luxury of 24-hour room service and a daily maid with the privacy and space of apartment hotels in London. Located just off Regent Street, it has 12 five-star one-, two- and three-bedroom suites with private kitchen facilities. All have understated design schemes (neutral tones, bamboo flooring, faux sable throws) and a stock of groceries/beverages ranging from ‘good’ (organic pasta) to ‘bad’ (Gelupo Gelato) to ‘baddest’ (a selection of wine, gin and vodka); you can also order in restaurant meals or catering to feed entire parties. Also provided are kimono robes for lounging around, in-suite treatments from Thai massage to pilates and pedicures, and rentable bikes for exploring the city. Many suites have decked balconies while two have planted terraces, offering sanctuary from the busy city below (read: it’s not exactly about the views here). As the only public spaces are the tiny (but tasteful) reception and steep, five-floor stairwell (no lift), there’s no communal buzz to talk of, and best to think of it as your personal pied-a`-terre.
