Hg2 : The Hedonist

Although London contains three Nobu restaurants, including the nearby Nobu Berkeley and Ubon near Canary Wharf, this Park Lane branch in the Metropolitan hotel is still the famous flagship and not just because it was here that Boris Becker entertained a model in the broom cupboard. It’s still packed with celebrities who stay out of the storage space but order from the luxurious modern Japanese menu that famously borrows from Peru and beyond. The dining room is unlovably utilitarian but no one seems to notice when they’re eating their rock shrimp tempura and black cod or sampling the sake. Getting a table at short notice, particularly in the evening, is a battle unless you have an agent or are sleeping with one of the management and then, hopefully, in a rather plush suite upstairs and not just another cupboard.
