Hg2 : The Hedonist

The Nobu brand can now be found in more than 20 outposts in locations as far afield as Dubai and Waikiki, but its culinary legacy is in no danger of being diluted and the Nobu in Miami is no exception. Hidden at the back of The Shore Club hotel, the room still attracts both the hoi-polloi and persons who are very serious about the sea-sourced items on their plates. For anyone unfamiliar with the menu, selections here range from the simple and perfectly treated (Kumomoto oysters, ceviche) to the lush-tasting and elegant. The menu is quite extensive, encompassing hot and cold dishes, sushi, sashimi and ‘mains’ (omakase, tempuras, teriyakis and the like). Of course, Nobu’s signature black cod with miso is still amazing; it’s the dish that redefined what Japanese food could aim for. Reservations are recommended. If your concierge fails to land a table for you, the alternative is to turn up and hope there is room at the bar area, where ultra-toned bartenders look after rowdy businessmen and where cosmopolitan-drinking blondes wait to pick someone suitably sexy up.
