Found within a townhouse in Norrmalm, Nosh and Chow is actually more eccentric than you might guess from the name. One room feels like the manifestation of your dream Manhattan loft, with plenty of chic suede couches and the odd leafy tree. The next is pure Gatsby glamour with mirrors as far as the eye can see. Downstairs, you might spy a bar that looks transported from a Madrid backstreet. This fantastic accumulation of styles is, in fact, spread across the Nosh and Chow restaurant, Coco (the first floor bar), and the members-only speakeasy, Bernie’s. They’re all housed within the townhouse, and all have been expertly designed. The result is utterly entrancing.

Once you find your way into Nosh and Chow itself – if, of course, you haven’t got lost in the wonderland that Catalan designer and architect Lázaro Pink Violán has created – the visual stimulation continues. Decorated with a palette of dusky blues and greys, with metallic accents, the space feels part-steampunk, part colonial club. But that’s just one area. Whatever section of the restaurant you dine in, you won’t be disappointed.

But that’s all before you tuck into the restaurant’s food. The menu here changes frequently, adjusting to themes and seasons, and keeping things interesting. One day you might find lamb shank with lentils, pumpkin and yoghurt. The next it might be grilled wasabi tuna with an edamame bean puree and fried rice balls. It’s anyone’s guess. But the kitchen is fearless, and the diner is justly rewarded by whatever dish they light on. Just don’t forget to try one of the many cocktails on offer; there are classics and creative concoctions to choose from, in addition to the generally well put together drinks list.
