Hg2 : The Hedonist

While the address Dizengoff 99 has been immortalized as the title of an Israeli cinema cult classic, owners of the property must have a wall full of the taxidermied busts of businesses that have failed while inhabiting the space. Its past incarnations have included a hotel lobby themed pickup bar, the after-hours extension of another local bar, and a brasserie. In Nylon the property takes its darkest form yet, reanimated into an industrial styled urban dance space, with a cocktail bar annex. Shadowy spaces, constant video-art displays, chains, and dark murals set the tone, complemented by an ambiguous indie-electronica soundtrack.

The venue presents a change of pace for the street, whose nightlife offerings have been a bit monotonous, usually focused around the usual alcohol menu and a no-risk play list. The more sophisticated cocktail trend has been taken up throughout the city, and the Nylon staff has made it a significant element of the venue’s concept. For those seeking a break from the image and the alcohol, the front garden offers a refreshing respite for a breath of fresh air, or a cigarette.
