You won’t need to look hard to find Ocha Sushi – the clean green and white façade pretty much leaps at you from the predominantly pink terrain of Rue Yougoslavie. In fact this Japanese restaurant in Marrakech is something of an anomaly all round: owned and run by a Moroccan lady (a definite rarity), with a genuine Japanese chef (who used to live and work in Paris) and – gasp – decent sushi at reasonable prices. Ocha Sushi is a trendy, modern space, verging on clinical, with a few tables and a food bar downstairs and another floor of seating upstairs. The menu is impressively diverse, with sushi, maki and sashimi options, as well as yakitori and tempura for those who don’t like raw fish. There also ‘menu’ boxes for those in a hurry or wanting to takeaway (home delivery also available). In warmer weather you can sit out on the patio and enjoy the slightly incongruous experience of tasting wasabi and watching the Marrakchi go about their daily life.
