Office
The words ‘bar’ and ‘office’ may appear to inhabit different universes. Unless, of course, you happen to find yourself on the fifth floor of a 1960s building on an Aoyama corner on a Friday night. For a nocturnal taste of office life without any of the bad bits (i.e. work) not to mention drinks on tap, there is only one place to head: Office.
Climbing the stairs in the lift-less building is enough work to warrant instant refreshment. Once inside, the furnishings are undeniably office-like: from the cubbyhole bookcases and filing cabinet stools to the plywood desks and metal lamps, not to mention the photocopying machine. But this is fortunately the chicer-end of the office repertoire.
The lighting is dim, the styling is chic and vast windows offer sparkling views directly down Aoyama Dori. And best of all? No one has to do any work. Instead, join your ‘colleagues’ – fashionable young creatives who clearly can’t get enough of office life – and sip a beer as the DJ plays some tunes. If only all offices were this cool.
