Hg2 : The Hedonist

Olevi Residents

Almost hidden in a corner of the street, this bijou little hotel sits plumb in the middle of the Old Town. In the 18th century it was a women’s prison, and the rooms still retain a slightly claustrophobic feel – one of them even boasts a set of original window bars set into the plasterwork.
rnBut the gloomy spirit is dispelled once you reach the higher rooms, which enjoy an unparalleled view of town and sea. Mid-level rooms offer bright, mid-range luxury, while downstairs you can take the dungeon room with its own sauna.
rnEat breakfast or dinner in the charismatic restaurant under a gurning boar’s head. The slightly chintzy feel (said to be typical of Russian establishments) is made up for by the peace and quiet of the corner setting and the thick walls. Extremely friendly staff will make your stay a pleasure, regardless of what you may think of the décor.
