Olio
Java snobs will sniff that this is one of the only cafés in Sydney that stocks the exclusive kop luwak coffee from Indonesia which has, in essence, passed through the rear end of a tree climbing cat known as a civet. After passing through undigested with the fleshy coating removed, it’s thankfully washed and then roasted. Served on an elegant slate platter at $9 a cup, it’s possibly up there among the world’s most expensive brews, but north shore coffee-lovers happily part with the cash. It’s not the only brew here at Olio – there’s another organic coffee blend formulated exclusively for the brassiere by award- winning roasters. Olio isn’t just about coffee, either – it’s a casual though elegant trattoria-style eatery serving light Italian food. The coffee might be the excuse to visit, but the brassiere also excels at light meals like lentil salad with beetroot, asparagus, goat’s cheese and sherry vinegar or soft salmon and potato fish cakes, served with shaved fennel, radish and lemon aioli.
