Hg2 : The Hedonist

Pacifico

The first, oldest and still arguably one of the most popular bars in Beirut, Pacifico boasts a Mexican theme and menu, and the best barmen in town – see Johnny and Tony for details. Divided into a bar and restaurant with an outdoor terrace, Pacifico is one of those places where you need to make reservations (unless you want to squeeze up against the bar). rn

Painted in a pale yellow to give off that sort of Latin American colonial feel, and with Michel, Camille and Steve’s trademark ceiling fans – the same exists in Dragonfly – Pacifico is about two things – the cocktails and the atmosphere. An older crowd of well-healed Beirutis is meshed with wandering travellers, diplomats and journalists, all of whom know it’s the place to be.

With service to match the atmosphere, expect to be tipping high. The music ranges from Cuban to jazz and Afro-Latin, making Pacifico the place to go before you hit the clubs.
