Hg2 : The Hedonist

Pata Negra

This is tapas in the knockabout Castilian tradition, with ham hocks swinging from the ceiling, breadcrumbs scattered across every surface, and dishes slung on to tables of jolly jostling punters. Pata Negra is permanently busy, loud and chaotic, but great fun for informal dining in somewhere that has an oddly authentic Spanish feel. This could easily be a hidden gem found in the back streets of Madrid or Seville. The dishes served are acceptable without being exceptional, but all the classics – patata bravas, chorizo, jamon Serrano, padron peppers – come at decent prices, and much of Pata Negra’s appeal comes from the chaotic but inviting atmosphere. There is limited outdoor seating in warmer weather.
