Hg2 : The Hedonist

Peasant

Cozy, delicious, and inviting, Peasant is the kind of place that makes you yearn for a cold winter’s day in order to fully enjoy chef/owner Frank De Carlo’s legendary wood-burning oven, from which so many wonderful meals come. The casual Nolita eatery, with its rough brick walls, rustic wood tables, and baskets of overflowing produce, is the kind of spot where you can show up with a bunch of friends and feel just as at home as the canoodling couple by the window. Brad Farmerie’s favorite spot for an secret meeting is, “downstairs at Peasant – dark, hidden entrance, and surprisingly unknown to 99.9% of humans. Love it.” Chefs like Johnny Iuzzini are also lured by Peasant’s Tuscan-inspired charms, like the crisp white pizza with mortadella, mushroom and cheese gnocchi, and oven-roasted orata.
