Hg2 : The Hedonist

Pershing Hall

Interior designer Imaad Rahmouni, more recently responsible for Sens (see page 109), has created a sensual quasi-Asian décor. Boxy leather chairs sit on a bottle-encrusted floor covered with plum and fuchsia rugs, and banquettes scattered with Oriental cushions surround the room.
rnThe walls are simply decorated with a single, mirrored shelf supporting delicate red Murano glass vases, beside which a white string curtain is caressed by pink and blue hues. Diners also have the option of sitting out in the courtyard to admire the 105-ft vertical garden created by landscape designer Patrick Blanc, made up of 300 different botanical plants climbing over the entire of wall.
rnDuring the day, when the courtyard becomes a suntrap, you really feel you’ve discovered a little hideaway from the hustle and bustle of the Champs-Élysées. A slightly uptight, fashion-conscious crowd are here to ‘see and be seen’ while they feast on wonderful French fusion gastronomy created by a former Nobu chef.
rnThe menu ranges from pure Asian (sushi) to pure French (steak tartare), meeting in between with delicious fusion dishes. The attractive décor and decorous crowd succeed in making you feel rather glamorous.
