When you want to party like it’s 1989, but have a good experience of eating in San Francisco, head to Postrio, Wolfgang Puck’s long-running success story. Postrio is another Pat Kuleto-designed interior, identifiable by its elaborate blown-glass light fixtures, ambitious scale, and general effusiveness. The impressive main dining room boasts quite a bit of modern art, including a terrific Rauschenberg, and a number of truly enormous flower arrangements. The quality dipped in the late ’90s, but seems to be back on track these days. In the end, Postrio still goes the extra mile, serving house-made breads, pastas, smoked salmon, and just about everything else.
