It’s worth getting in a taxi just to watch the surfing videos projected onto big screens at Purdy Lounge.
Lit by low-slung aluminium lamps hanging from the ceiling and lava lamps on the walls, the bar has a bohemian vibe to it. Purdy Lounge is always busy and the atmosphere is like that of an upscale frat-house party.
There are a few tables where you can sit either on giant hand chairs or sofas, but Purdy Lounge is all about standing up and drinking in a crowded but laid-back room. Like most serious entertainment establishments in Miami, the bar stays open until 5am.
Thursday is Ladies’ Night when girls drink for free, and the men follow, and on a Sunday they host a chocolate party in an attempt to keep the weekend party going.
