Hg2 : The Hedonist

Dining at Rafael, one of the best Peruvian restaurants in Bogota, is not just a meal, it is an event. As you take your seat, dripping from one of Bogota’s surprise showers, a waiter offers a glass of mulled wine that will make you forget the inconvenience of not having an umbrella. Businessmen loosen their ties and botoxed women manage to smile in the relaxed comfort of this restaurant haven: stylish, but not pretentious. The head chef is Rafael Osterling, who is officially the best chef in Peru and one of the top ten in Latin America. In keeping with the Peruvian cuisine, you can’t go wrong with a pisco sour and ceviche (the fish is freshly caught that day). But if you’re here just once, don’t leave without trying the pork belly. Models fast for a week just to order the dish, and yes, it really is that good.
