Ramses
Ramses is one of the latest high-concept restaurants to arrive on the scene in Madrid, and has managed to achieve its aim of attracting the fashionista and celebrity crowd. That comes in part from their rather snooty door policy for entrance to the bar, but also from the elaborate interior design by Philippe Starck.
As the name may suggest, the restaurant has an archaeological theme, with the black walls daubed with notebook-style scribblings and drawings. If you’re there to eat, you can enjoy the Bistro, with its Mediterranean menu, or just stop at the bar for a cocktail. The food is perhaps the least impressive thing here, though, failing to live up to the expectation created by the atmosphere and the glamorous crowd. If you want to be in one of the places to be seen, however, then you’ve discovered the right spot.
