Reduta
Reduta is a traditional jazz club which first opened in 1958, but only made its mark on the Prague nightlife scene when Bill Clinton played his saxophone here – presumably without inhaling – alongside President Havel.
A large, old-fashioned and slightly stuffy room, the space boasts a series of angular sofas, black-and-white prints of jazz legends on the walls and a serious line-up of modern, classic and fusion jazz bands. Since it’s not in a cellar and the bar is hidden away in a side room, the atmosphere is slightly more formal than elsewhere, heightening the idea that it’s a venue for aficionados only.
However, this is emphatically not the case, and even a beginner can enjoy sitting back and listening to a riff here. The room thaws out when the bands get going, and this is still a great place to combine quality music with a couple of quiet drinks.
