Relais de l’Entrecôte

A little bit of Parisian dining in Beirut, on the corner of Monnot Street and Abdel Wahab el Inglizi Street, Relais is a perfect steak frîtes restaurant complete with curtained windows, wood interior and polite service. There is no menu as such, just the question of how do you like your entrecôte cooked and what you would like to drink with it.

Relais is one of those restaurants that has lasted in Beirut because it simply is what it is, you know what you are getting and you know it is going to be good. The puddings are also exceptional, especially the chocolate fondant and the profiteroles. It’s good if visiting on your own or with friends, as the atmosphere is always loud and vibrant, with a Lebanese crowd taken from every walk of life. Sundays are particularly full. Vegetarians be warned there is nothing for you here.
