Restoran Dominic

Restoran Dominic can be found in Tallinn’s Old Town, and it’s a fairly old denizen of the neighbourhood, with records of the house dating back to 1374. Inside, Restoran Dominic is an exercise in classic elegance – making use of period features like rough-worn brick, sturdy wooden beams, and iron-latticed windows. Historical creds aside, the restaurant serves up well-crafted, refined European fare, with a few international influences thrown in for good measure.

The menu includes dishes like lamb chops and sweetbreads with eggplant, black garlic and Jerusalem artichoke, and Saaremaa deer carpaccio with truffle cheese, herb mayonnaise and cherry jam. Fried polenta comes comes with beetroot tartare, cauliflower, pistachio and crispy cabbage. And quail fillet is given a fresh, fruity spin here when served with a green salad decked out with pear, pomegranate, and the creamy heft of Gorgonzola.

For dessert, meanwhile, you can keep things elegant with a few petit fours alongside your espresso, or up the sweet ante with anything from rum-raisin pound cake with whipped cream, blue cheese ice cream and a crispy waffle to crème brûlée with goat cheese and sea buckthorn.

Open for lunch and dinner week-round, be sure to keep an eye out for their occasional wine dinners. There’s nothing like an evening of wine and food pairings from around the world where you get a side of education with your Pinot.
