Reval Cafe Mocha
Part of a chain and a tourist café redeemed by a charming balcony overlooking an evocative, full-size mural of Estonia’s parliament hill as it might have looked in the 18th century. Downstairs a spacious and attractive room can be a little too close to the bustling crowds on Town Hall Square for comfort.
Laminated menus with photographs of the different options add to the touristy feel. But sneak upstairs to the mezzanine for a slice of cake in a more secluded and romantic spot. Like most cafés in Tallinn, Mocha also serves a variety of alcoholic drinks such as ‘Vana Tallinn’ (literally ‘Old Tallinn’, the local answer to Jägermeister), or simply wine and beer, as well as coffees and teas in a range of flavours.
If you’re lucky, try to grab the table in the alcove by the window for a rare view of the cobbled streets in the most central part of medieval Tallinn.
