A peaceful hotel in Marrakech’s Kasbah district, near the Royal Palace and the Saadian Tombs, Riad Awa is an urban retreat with oodles of unassuming, undeniable style. Owners Martine and Henri artfully mix traditional Moroccan and contemporary furnishings in the rooms and public spaces, with the odd swaying palm tree and natural materials like raffia, linen and straw used throughout.

The six ensuite bedrooms are decorated in earthy, mineral tones of slate, plum, and cream, with the suite adding modern, monochrome touches to the decor, a spacious bathroom, and plenty of extra square footage. Downstairs, the hotel has its own hammam and a sunny patio area and dining room, while upstairs there are split level open-air terraces with views of the Atlas Mountains and a rooftop pool for cooling off in the afternoons or swimming under the stars.
