One of the largest riads in Marrakech, Esprit du Maroc is in the centre of the medina and has been given an impressive facelift by new owners Sylvie and Philip that brings out the building’s original structure, features and character. In this sense Riad Esprit du Maroc is somehow reminiscent of a Moroccan version of an English country house hotel, with décor that sticks unswervingly to the traditional. The 11 bedrooms are huge with doors leading off to personal bathrooms (which include baths and walk-in showers), dressing rooms and private balconies on which you can dine. A generous split-level roof terrace is also perfect for taking meals, and making use of the gorgeous spa – which has two hammams, five massage rooms, a fitness room and a plunge pool – is a must. Staff handle requests discreetly and capably, and you may well find yourself wanting to stay longer. Best of all, the riad is just 10 minutes from the Jemâa El Fna, close to Medersa Ben Youssef and the Museum of Marrakech.
