Riad Mabrouka
Riad Mabrouka is one of the authentic riads in Marrakech, built in the 18th century which has been recently and tastefully renovated and redecorated but which has kept its soul: those who like the idea of balancing Zen-styled interiors with funky minimalist furnishings should not hesitate to seek it out. Riad Mabrouka was built by architect Christophe Simeon and this well-located riad comprises two suites, two junior suites and two bedrooms as well as a large lounge, with outstanding ceilings, a fireplace and library corner, a spacious dining room with fireplace area, it displays a cool and tastefully restrained artfulness. Wooden furnishings, white walls, a beautiful courtyard with a trickling show-pool, antique packing trunks and tadelakt bathrooms are balanced against a seductive savannah backdrop of greys, whites and browns, all repeated in strategically placed giant mirrors. The two suites and three double rooms are similarly delightful, although they walk the tightrope between cosy and small. There are salons downstairs for relaxing in, a lovely roof terrace and traditional Moroccan food is available on order. There’s a new hammam too and outside, overlooking the Medina’s roofs, comfortably furnished 200sq.m terraces are arranged on several levels. Breakfasts are served there in the shade of tents with a spectacular view on the Atlas Mountains.
