Hg2 : The Hedonist

Ripa Roma

Ripa was one of the first forays into modern design hotels in Rome – but, admittedly, the ’90s minimalism here may be too severe for some tastes. Slightly shabby from the outside, the inside is friendly and warm and the bold red sofas inject some colour. Rooms are comfortable, if a little too pared-down (with monochrome shades and minibars covered in black velvet hanging from the walls). The location, in an unkempt corner of Trastevere, is slightly peripheral, but if you want to be near the nightlife on this side of the river it’s fairly convenient. Good base to explore the busy area without necessarily sleeping in the midst of Rome’s noisy crowds.
