Hg2 : The Hedonist

Ripples is one of the places to eat in Sydney which makes the perfect pit-stop between walking along the harbour foreshore from Taronga Zoo to Balmoral Beach – even better if you want to spend the day horizontal at Clifton Gardens, one of Sydney’s most secluded harbour beaches (arrive in style via water taxi from Circular Quay). With glittering views over the harbour, Ripples also serves lunch and dinner, but it shines at breakfast on weekends, when the al fresco terrace heaves with relaxed locals. There are no reservations; strictly walk-ins only, but gazing at the view, you won’t worry too much if you have to wait. Try the porridge served with rhubarb compote and lashings of brown sugar or the fluffy Kangaroo Valley egg omelette.
