As is the case with the other Room Mate Madrid hotels, Room Mate Alicia has an unbeatable location, on the attractive Plaza Santa Ana, also home to the exclusive ME Meliá. From here you can easily access the city’s art museums as well as the central Sol and Plaza Mayor areas. The architects have made great use of the views from the lobby, with huge windows letting the light stream into the minimalist, all-white space. Of the 34 rooms at Room Mate Alicia, the duplex suites are of particular note, each equipped with its own mini-swimming pool out on the terrace, which look like large mosaic-tiled baths. The decoration and choice of furniture show impeccable taste on the part of designer Pascua Ortega, while the free Wi-Fi and other internet options available reflect the modernity of the hotel. It does get noisy around this area at night, however, so if you are a light sleeper make sure you let the staff know before they assign you your room.
