A trip to the Rose Bar is an enjoyable way to see exactly why the Delano was such a sensation on its debut. Indeed, the hotel’s in-house bar is a stylish sidekick to the Delano’s towering lobby, but it’s really no more than a long deep-set alcove cleverly lit and blending in with the lobby’s theme park-like setting. This is an inviting place to sit on cushioned stools or play a frame of pool, if the models will let you; the coin-on-the-table reservation technique does not seem to work with them. But sometimes it’s best to sit back and let them show you how the game should be played. Rose Bar still attracts an interesting crowd – ignore anyone who says otherwise. The cocktails are as strong and as expensive as ever.
