Inhabiting a deteriorated building on Rothschild Boulevard, complete with exposed steel rods and chipped concrete; Rothschild 12 vies for the city’s throne of ‘hip’. As one ventures past the rough exterior and enters the bar, they are immediately greeted by a slick, minimalist décor, highlighted by a massive glass table able to sit 30, and a guitar framed behind glass panels. The stage will always be lit and full of equipment, ripe for one of the many nightly performances that usually include the best in local and visiting talent. Off to the right, the well-stocked bar is lined by bottles of Hendricks’s gin, signaling the thematic direction sought by owners Matti and Ruti Brodo, the entrepreneurial couple that have built a culinary empire in Tel Aviv.
Expect to see the talented and beautiful, as well as their seekers, mingling throughout the night, breaking only for a short set by one of the local bands. If in need of a break, explore the backyard area for a glimpse at works from Israel’s leading street artists. Fitting well with the active Tel Avivian nightlife, expect the bar to be a thrill seven nights a week.
