Savile Row
Savile Row. Need we elaborate on this mecca of shopping in London?
Some highlights include Abercrombie & Fitch, which features preppy American casualwear with a strict insistence on beautiful staff, just up from Evisu Subaro – high-end indigo Japanese denim and streetwear with obsessive attention to detail. You may not have heard of them, but it’s worth a look.
Gieves & Hawkes has occupied the prized No.1 Savile Row address for over 90 years. Exemplary, bespoke tailoring with design-led collections means it may well occupy that same address for the next 90 years. Huntsman represents one of the most expensive shops on Savile Row, famous for its tweeds, accompanied by Kilgour (pronounced ‘Kilgar’), Cary Grant’s erstwhile tailor, straddling tradition and modernity; their modern poster-boy is Jude Law. Amongst other shops willing to suit and boot you for extremely high prices are Lanvin and Richard James, both of whom showcase a modern take on classic designs.
