The current reigning aristocrat of the Tallinn hotel world, Schlössle was until this year the only five-star hotel in town. For lack of competition this well-run hotel has picked up the cream of the visiting public – from touring rock stars such as Duran Duran and Deep Purple, to royalty, statesmen and VIPs, including Prince Charles, Gerard Schroder and George Soros.
rnDespite opening as recently as 1998, Schlössle is relatively venerable in Estonian terms – and is therefore a safe bet for anyone looking for certified quality and service in a great location. Now competing with newer, slicker operations aiming for the same quality market, its traditional charms can seem a little stodgy. But with its emphasis on standards Schlössle can always be sure of a loyal customer base. Behind the main building there is a separate lodge housing some medieval rooms particularly popular with Americans. Note the green-faced oil painting in reception.
