Think you know your Chinese Golden Turtle Oolong from your
Darjeeling Autumnal Happy Valley? Prepare to be challenged. Blending tradition
with style, luxury grocers Schwarzenbach opened one of the finest cafés in Zürich next
to their roasting house and temping shop.
Architect Stefan Zwicky was
challenged to create a space that evokes the essence of tea and coffee. And
somehow, he’s succeeded. The smart interior blends modern dark wood with
beautifully faded burnt orange seating and gentle lighting. True specialists,
they have a fantastic selection of teas and coffees from across the world on
offer alongside a delicious array of quiches, cakes and other assorted
homebaked naughties (we particularly recommend the schokoladenkucken with cream).
Despite a ringside position on busy Münstergasse,
it remains a local favourite, with a steady flow of people relaxing over papers
and a steaming cup of something. Make sure you stop by charmingly traditional
grocery shop next door.
