Admittedly the name is a hint. There is undoubtedly only one thing that matters within the four walls of the café Seat Mania: chairs. The four legged creations are celebrated in all their glory at Seat Mania, a small otherwise understated café on the fringes of Shibuya. Those who have until now been unable to fulfill dreams of sipping tea on a scarlet-hued Arne Jacobsen iconic Egg or eating cake from the curved white futuristic comfort of Eames’ La Chaise, will be forgiven for thinking they have died and gone to chair heaven.
Frank Lloyd Wright, Le Corbusier, George Nelson, Harry Bertoia: the space is a veritable who’s who of the chair design world. Every table in the café is adorned with a selection design classics alongside piles of cards depicting details of each chair. The perfect place to sip a honey ginger tea or a sesame smoothie while leaning back in your favorite chair and pretending it’s your own.
