An extraordinary collaboration between sought-after French hotel designer, Jacques Garcia (of Hotel Costes fame), the Bennani Smires family and French naturopath Henri Chenot, makes Selman Palace just outside Marrakech, a fairly unique proposition. Selman Marrakech has a very equestrian theme, building on the notion of the Arabian thoroughbred – which are all to apparent in the on-site stables, and the slightly more distant stud farm in Rabat. The 56 rooms and suites all have little alcoves opening up onto terraces and for those after a little more privacy five riads are available for rent. All the rooms come with flat screens, Wifi, iPod docks and all mod-cons.
A spa reminiscent of ancient Istanbul is on hand to relax guests as well as the international Selman restaurant, run by Michel Bras-trained chef Ludovic Gomiero, and the Assil Pavilion, with views over the stables and pool has a fresh lunch-time Mediterranean menu.
