Celebrating over a decade in existence, the Shesek remains a prominent element of the Tel Avivian nightlife map. Though located in the heart of the city’s first neighbourhood, the bar marks itself as an outlet of fresh, new electronic-based music. The best in local talent take over the DJ decks on a nightly basis, and it is not uncommon to find International DJs gracing the Shesek faithful with a secret set or two. After passing the ubiquitous bouncer and dark cloth divide set-up, you make your way to the main bar area. Orange-brown patterns on the wall are broken up by chalkboard menus of the night’s specialty drinks and a massive display of bottles behind an informal bar-top. The DJ straddles the end of the second chamber, complemented by a small dance-floor and a lounge area in the third room nearby. Flyers and indie magazines usually litter the over-sized bathrooms and lounge area, along with a crowd of hipsters, scenesters and everyone in between.
