This is not one of the coffee shops in Sydney where you want to utter the words ‘decaffeinated soy caramel latte’. These guys are serious about their beans, so be aware that you’re ordering your espresso from bonafide coffee-meisters. The coffee comes from the roastery in the suburb of Alexandria, but you can sample the good stuff at the Single Origin café as you please – espresso, syphon, pour over or cold filter. There’s a café menu, and while the salads and sandwiches (think miso-glazed lamb, Japanese eggplant and asparagus. and the housemade nutella sandwich with banana) will rock your boat too, the real reason this place is famous is for the global range of premium-grade, sustainably-grown coffee. It’s so popular that the owners recently added Sideshow – a takeaway espresso bar next door – to reduce the madness of the morning caffeine rush. One for bean aficionados.
