Hg2 : The Hedonist

Skansen covers several acres of Djurgården and attracts more than a million visitors every year – and deservedly so. It appeals to everyone by combining an open-air museum featuring 160 historic buildings from the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries with an extensive zoo. You can see elk, lynx, brown bears, seals, reindeer and owls, or visit the aquarium. Watching the wolves being fed is always particularly popular. Alternatively take a ride on the funicular railway then head over to the picnic pavilion, rose garden, herb garden or the farm. It’s a mark of just how good Skansen is that it’s one of the few museums in the city that is visited by locals, as well as visitors. Each year it hosts Allsång på Skansen, an old-fashioned sing-along concert, which is hugely popular with Swedes – and baffling to everyone else.
