Tucked away behind the Emarat petrol station on Al Wasl Road, next door to a copy shop that literally prints money, this can be a toughie to find; but persevere and you’ll be smiling too by the end of the night. Quirky doesn’t do justice to this nutty joint serving ‘Number 1 Awesome Food in Town’ (even if they do say so themselves). Don’t come starving, as you’ll need to block out a good 15 minutes for giggling over the adorably smutty dish names – will you be having a ‘1 Night in Bang Cock’ (spicy sour soup) with an ‘Amazing Thai Lady!!’ (prawn and lemongrass soup) or would you prefer ‘Pussy Cat Got Wet’ (stir fried chicken with fried garlic), sirmaam? The décor is similarly eccentric – from a nude oil painting adapted with Shariah-compliant swimwear to the outside toilets which are pure Phuket.
