Hg2 : The Hedonist

Smoke’s Poutinerie

Poutine is Quebec’s staple drunk food, a revered trinity of fries, cheese curds and thick gravy. As if that wasn’t enough of a greasy gorge-fest, Smoke’s Poutinerie piles extra food on top, like pulled pork, prime rib or butter chicken. It caters mainly to the midnight munchie brigade who couldn’t care less about calories in their efforts to stave off a hangover. They come in regular or large (aka greedy or masochistic) and start at $5.49 for the traditional trio.

The fries themselves are sliced with their skins-on and taken from the Yukon Gold potato variety, which has a touch of sweetness. The suspicious globules of cheese curds are surprisingly palatable when doused in gravy and have the requisite squeak to their bite. This is the original location of the franchise, upstairs from that other soak-up booze food joint, Burrito Boyz.
