Hg2 : The Hedonist

St Pancras Renaissance

Thankfully after undergoing an extensive recent renovation, this London landmark has lost none of its allure. A Victorian gothic masterpiece built by Sir Gilbert Scott back in 1873, hotels don’t come much more grand than this. Some of our favourite original features include a sweeping cantilevered staircase of epic proportions and the elaborate gothic windows that look out over Kings Cross. The old Booking Office has been turned into an elegant bar and the original entrance and station coffee shop have been transformed into an up-market brasserie headed up by chef Marcus Wareing. But as impressive as the design and décor of this particular hotel might be, the real draw here is in the people-watching opportunities it provides – forget curtain twitching, some of the rooms here look directly onto the St Pancras Eurostar terminal.
