Star Live is a Beijing institution. Located in Ditan Park near the Lama Temple, it has a capacity for 1,200 concert-goers. By far the slickest and most professional live music venue in the capital with a top-drawer sound and lighting system, it has landed top international acts such as the Roots and Incubus. The management also keeps an eye out for the next big thing so expect to see lots of Chinese bands in the line up alongside such legends as Ziggy Marley, Talib Kweli and French electrohouse act Busy P. There are also regular heavy metal gigs such as the Swedish band, In Flames. One of the only spaces that has standing room, avid fans can get up close and personal with their music icons. If sweating next to the masses isn’t your thing, there is VIP seating on the second floor balcony. There are two bars selling fairly priced drinks to quench your thirst and you can continue the evening in the Tango nightclub downstairs.
