Sturecompagniet comes from the same stable as Hell’s Kitchen and is similarly popular with the out-of-towners. It is perhaps the best-known nightclub in Stockholm. Certainly if you’re walking past Stureplan on a weekend night you can’t fail to notice it. It has managed to retain its pulling power, though it tends to divide public opinion. For some people it’s just too big (it’s a huge place, spread over several floors), too popular and too glitzy. Inside, the lighting and décor create a strong sense of the theatrical. Two words of warning for you: the doormen can be difficult, so be sure to dress up and arrive early if you want to be sure of gaining access. Also, if you’re over 30 you’re going to feel your age when you’re surrounded by the swarms of beautiful 20-somethings.
