Open since 1897, Sturehof is a Stockholm institution located slap-bang on Stureplan, the epicentre of Stockholm nightlife. In addition to its excellent restaurant (see Restaurants), it has several places to grab a drink. First of all, just inside the entrance from Sturegallerian, there’s a classic white-tiled bar that attracts a professional post-work crowd.
Then there’s another bar that’s reached by walking through the restaurant. In the summer there’s also a large outdoor seating area, which fills up quickly as soon as the days are warm enough.
Finally, and rather surprisingly considering how starchy the restaurant can seem, there’s Obaren, located at the rear of the restaurant. It regularly has live music and appeals to a younger, trendier crowd. In a city that can sometimes seem a bit sleepy, one of the best things about Sturehof is that it’s open seven days a week, 365 days a year.
