When the summer hits town, locals thirst for hedonistic opportunities in open spaces. Going to the beach becomes a daytime job, while open air bars, clubs and parties dominate the nightly schedule. Since its debut in 2010, The Sublet, a massive dance bar located by the Dan Panorama Hotel, has become a perennial favorite for all those whom you flirted with at the nearby beach earlier that day. And yes, if Bar Raphaeli happens to be in town, chances are she’ll probably make an appearance at some point.
The space consists of two large dance-floors and several rectangular bars, with tables for reservations and a strip of couches set by the beachside offering an unbeatable view of the Mediterranean, Jaffa and the Tel Aviv boardwalk. The crowd ranges from young to the young at heart, all dressed sharply, with the occasional beach bum sneaking by in a tank top and shorts. The music centers around mainstream and electronic-based pop, with the occasional throwback to keep the crowd on its feet. Expect the club to fill up quickly, so arrive early or reserve a table. If you’re in Tel Aviv for the summer season and in the mood for an alternative to the standard club scene, Sublet is your venue for the night.
