Those who have sampled Suzy in other cities will recognise the format – heavily designed, upscale bar smattered with beautiful people and staff, all sipping well made, pricey drinks. The Amsterdam branch of the chain doesn’t dabble quite as much with pretentiousness as Suzy Wong in other venues, but there is still an air of knowing chic-ness among punters and staff alike, though the latter are very welcoming. The decor is east meets west – a tad Parisian, but heavily done up with the atmosphere of the orient. It’s all very slickly done, and attracts a suitably slick, hip crowd. The drinks are all well worked, from the special moijito menu to house cocktails and all the classics. Prices are high. Bar snacks include mini hamburgers (€9), chicken skewers, mozzarella sticks and the like. A good spot to behave like a hedonist.
