Through a subtle entrance, on a quiet side street of downtown Moscow lies is Svetily. Reached through the door of a seemingly low, one story building, into a small reception, a sweeping staircase dominates the left hand side of the room which leads up to the amazing, secret restaurant space above, which cannot be seen from the street.
Opened in the summer of 2013 Svetily has fast made its mark on the Moscow restaurant scene. The ceiling of the aptly named Svetily (meaning light) is dotted with impressive Swarovski chandeliers, while terrace windows illuminate the slightly quirky, but tasteful, Art Deco-style interior. The relaxing atmosphere inside the restaurant is undercut with a slow, pulsing excitement, which come the end of the week reaches a climax with the restaurant featuring live performances from some of Moscow’s biggest DJs and singers along with various graphic artists. And if Russian music is not to your taste, then take a trip downstairs to the karaoke room, complete with its own bar and kitchen which is available for private hire.
Svetily’s cuisine is broad mixture of European and Fusion food, with an extensive wine list and sommelier on hand to ensure the perfect compliment to your meal. Employing what can arguably be described as the best restaurant team in Moscow, the service is impeccable and each dish not only looks like a work of art, but tastes like one too.
