Tapas Achad Ha’am

Originally conceived as an Iberian Tapas Restaurant juxtaposed upon the Tel Aviv landscape, Tapas Achad Ha’am, has evolved to include dishes from throughout the Spanish-speaking world, as well as local culinary highlights. The décor, a mad splash of Yellows, Reds and Oranges complimented by bushels of peppers and garlic lining the bar, maintains a lively link to the restaurant’s origins, while the music fluctuates from Flamenco to Salsa and off to Cumbia and other Latin sounds. You will feel a bit out of focus, and remain so while combing through a plethora of tapas choices. A refreshing Jerez Sour, along with assistance by one of the friendly waiters, should help ease the confusion.

The menu changes according to both seasonality and market availability, with new offerings introduced almost daily. This is quite a far cry from the original, simpler menu, written in Spanish on a chalkboard spanning the entire bar’s length. Try to echo the Barcelona way, making your reservation for later than usual. The restaurant has a reputation of getting louder and more festive as the hours go by. The liters of wine consumed, always served in the traditional Spanish style of crystal low-ball glasses, certainly have something to do with it.
