This is part of a family of restaurants that also includes its immediate neighbour, the glamorous bar-restaurant Riche (see Bars) and Sturehof (above). Teatergrillen lives up to its name in terms of location, clientele and design. With the entrance close to the Dramaten theatre, the restaurant attracts enthusiastic theatre-goers and artistic types who appreciate the theatrical interior. Masks hang on the walls above intimate niches upholstered in a shocking red. The food is excellent – with lots of lobster, oysters and other luxurious items – with prices that suit the wallets of the sort of diners who wouldn’t dream of booking the cheap seats for a matinee. Many dishes are named after actors and if you want to really be theatrical, you can book what was once Ingmar Bergman’s private table.
