Teatro de Camarín

Teatro de Camarín del Carmen was built in 1665 as a religious monastery and was used as a military hospital and school before it joined the ranks of Bogotá theatres in 1989. The beautiful brick architecture provides an atmospheric setting for the theatre’s productions, which tend to attract audiences of no less than 500 people each night. The theatre also serves as the headquarters for the Compañía Estable del Camarín del Carmen, which is one of the most prestigious theatrical groups in Colombia. It’s hardly surprising, then, that its performances here are breakthing stuff.
