The 3 Crowns
A good old-fashioned boozer with some serious culinary credentials, The 3 Crowns is just the kind of pub we can get on board with. A green-tiled façade gives this corner venue a bit of character, while inside a sweeping oak bar provides plenty of space for a post-work pint with friends. But it’s the restaurant that really caught our attention. Pull back the heavy velvet curtain towards the back of the bar and you’ll find a hidden dining room decorated with dark wooden panelling and simple leather seating. Chef Lee Urch is responsible for the inventive menu, which features locally sourced British ingredients crafted into delicious, wholesome dishes. As one might expect, the menu changes with the seasons, but expect to see such delights as melt-in-the-mouth beef cheeks and a whole grilled bream with fennel, puntarelle and blood orange. Leave room for dessert – the walnut and rhubarb mess is just as heavenly as it sounds.
